Country and vista both unreal and not,
out there yet forever ephemeral,
lost now except for a warped recollection
stored in my memory.
Sound of crows, scent of pine needles
the cold, wet cloth that makes your arms sluggish
your fingers unable to grasp the beauty of the moment.
I am back in Wildemann in the Harz, for a week of hiking and photographing, before I head on to Wernigerode next Friday (only a 60min drive from here). Right now I hope the next seven days won’t be too rainy… .
Lurchi was (is?) the name of a fire salamander in a comic book series that advertised Salamander Shoes when I was a kid. Whenever you went into one of their stores, you got the current issue – which meant one went there a lot more often than one needed shoes, really. Each and every comic book always started with the words “Lurchi, unser Salamander, und die Freunde miteinander” (Lurchi, our salamander, and his friends, together…).
I know it’s been a couple of days since I updated, but I basically came back from France and then drowned in work :-) – and thus am only now getting to look at the photos I took during my two weeks’ holiday. I’m … on day two. (Not a lot of time to look at photos … work work work :-))
